January is here and VidZone is back! It’s taken us a little while to get back up on our feet after the Christmas period (as I’m sure for everyone), but we’re getting there. We unfortunately lost one of pop music’s greats – the wonderful George Michael
who we’re paying tribute to this week and we’re featuring our Artist Of The Year for 2016 plus a few new treats to get you started. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!
Read on for more info and watch the latest Video Highlights trailer above.
Over the Christmas break we sadly lost a hugely talented and inspirational pop legend – Mr. George Michael. Starting his music career in Wham! alongside school friend Andrew Ridgeley, the pair became a success around the world with hits like ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ and of course ‘Last Christmas’. After they amicably split in 1987, his solo career took off with instant hits such as ‘Careless Whisper’ and ‘Faith’, eventually tallying up an impressive 100 million records worldwide. VidZone is paying tribute to the star who will be greatly missed by all.
Artist Of The Year 2016: Coldplay
That’s right, Chris Martin and Co. won VidZone in 2016. Their seventh studio album, although actually released in December 2015, lead them into a new year with a bang and took us along for the ride with massive hits like ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’ and ‘Hymn For The Weekend’. Both of which were also visual triumphs – the first’s CGI monkey spectacle helped along by motion capture king Andy Serkis. And the second, a stunning and colourful journey through India with guest vocalist and superstar Beyoncé.
X Factor UK winner, James Arthur is back and following up his huge single ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ with ‘Safe Inside’ – another emotional and surefire hit. We’ve recommended the chart-smashing singer this week so make sure you check out the new video as well as his previous hits including his X Factor single ‘Impossible’ and ‘You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You’, all under one roof!
- James Arthur – ‘Safe Inside’
- Olly Murs – ‘Years & Years’
- Beyoncé – ‘Formation’
- Tegan And Sara – ‘Stop Desire’
Artist Of The Week: Chris Brown
We’re guessing the majority of you were ringing in the new year with a party, so how about a Chris Brown ‘Party’ to get January started? It’s the first song to be released from the singer’s forthcoming eighth album, Heartbreak on a Full Moon and features fellow RnB star, Usher and rapper Gucci Mane. With a video directed by the man himself, it’s another great piece of choreography and style. Watch it now and remind yourself of his previous music videos in his Artist Of The Week playlist now.
